Help create a healthy smile

"Dental OPTIONS allows our office the
opportunity to give back to the community."
- Phillip T. Latham, DDS
Mid-Ohio Oral Surgery

For an individual nursing an abscessed tooth or diseased gums, any wait at all is too long. In Ohio, 41% of the population has no dental insurance. Current dental assistance programs are inundated with requests, resulting in long waiting lists.

Created from a partnership between the Ohio Dental Association and the Ohio Department of Health, the program connects people to dentists who've agreed to provide free and reduced cost care.

Dentists participating in this statewide program have donated more than $1 million in free or discounted services since the program began in 1997.

While the focus of this program is on providing dental care to those in need, it is administered in such a way that you, the dentist, gain:

  • Flexibility
You control the number and types of cases that you can accommodate in your practice.
  • Freedom
Your volunteer time and service is solely in practicing dentistry. Administrative tasks are performed by Dental OPTIONS referral coordinators, who serve as liaisons between your office and the patient between appointments.
  • Satisfaction
A participating dentist from Cleveland sums it up: "This program allows our office the opportunity to give back to the community under mutual terms, to patients that truly appreciate the services rendered."

Although the Dental OPTIONS program has served thousands of people in its short history, the need for dentist participation remains high. There are regions of the state facing a shortage of Dental OPTIONS providers in general and a statewide demand for certain types of specialists. You can help; enroll today. More questions?
