About Our Program
FIRSTLINK, in cooperation with Franklin County Children Services, provides the Kinship Care Navigator Program to assist caregivers in need of support and resources. Kinship care is when a relative or non-relative cares for a child full-time on a temporary or permanent basis. Parents may be unable to care for their child for many reasons, including death, illness, substance abuse, incarceration and poverty. Kinship care benefits children by maintaining a sense of familiarity and identity with their family's culture, history and traditions.
