Siren Buddies are needed to help monitor approximately 150 sirens located throughout Franklin County as part of the Franklin County Outdoor Warning System. This system is activated by local officials to warn people who may be outdoors of severe weather conditions. The Outdoor Warning System sirens are tested every Wednesday at noon.
Franklin County needs volunteers who will monitor an assigned siren within one mile of their home or work place. Each volunteer agrees to monitor the siren at least one Wednesday per month and must be able to both hear the siren and see it rotating. Volunteers must report by phone immediately if the siren did not function properly.
Become a siren buddy and help make Franklin County a safer community.
